Sunday, October 28th brings the first LaLiga El Clasico of the 2018/19 season, with FC Barcelona and Real Madrid renewing their historic rivalry in what is modern football’s biggest club game. The Camp Nou will once again be the focus for a global TV audience of millions in what is sure to be another action-packed and surprise-filled El Clasico showdown.
Lucky LaLiga fans in many locations around the globe, from Shanghai to Miami, Kolkata to Sydney and Jakarta to Johannesburg will get a unique experience of this huge occasion at specially organised LaLiga events.
Former El Clasico stars and LaLiga representatives will be travelling to numerous cities within Asia, the Americas and Europe to share the excitement of this global occasion with local fans.
LaLiga Santander fans in Kolkata are in for a shared treat, with LaLiga’s recently announced Indian broadcast partner Facebook expecting over 25,000 to attend a special match screening event at the East Bengal Ground.
Also in attendance will be LaLiga ambassador and former England international Steven McManaman, scorer of some famous El Clasico goals and winner of two LaLiga titles during his four years as a star at the Santiago Bernabeu.
The Indonesian cities of Jakarta (with SCTV) and Surabaya (with beIN SPORTS) will also play host to special screening events for up to 7,000 fans, with Real Madrid legends Ivan Campo and Fernando Morientes in attendance, while Chinese fans will watch the game with LaLiga Ambassadors and former LaLiga stars Patrick Kluivert and Fernando Sanz at a screening at Huangpu Sports Park in Shanghai.
Over in the Americas, 5,000 fans at Bayfront Park in downtown Miami won’t miss a second of the action as live El Clasico coverage beams into Bayfront Park Amphitheater courtesy of LaLiga and beIN SPORTS. Those in attendance will be sure to live it up in a city which rocked for the International Champions Cup El Clasico back in 2017, especially with Barcelona and Brazil legend Rivaldo in the house.
Down in Mexico City, fans will pack into the F1 Fanzone Mexico at Campo Marte between Friday and Sunday to soak up some pre-game El Clasico atmosphere while the game will be on show at Bogota’s District Sports Bar in Colombia at an event in conjunction with local broadcaster DirecTV starring Colombian icon Carlos Valderrama.
Tashkent is set to host the day’s biggest official El Clasico event in Asia, with over 35,000 Real Madrid and Barça fans set to pack into the Uzbeki capital’s Milliy Stadium for a screening organised by LaLiga and its local broadcast partner UZReport. LaLiga ambassador and former Barcelona and Spain forward Luis Garcia will be on-site to enjoy the game alongside the local supporters.
El Clasico day will also see more LaLiga-organised screenings across the world, including Johannesburg (South Africa), Dar es Salaam (Tanzania), Sydney (Australia), Bangkok (Thailand) and Singapore as well as Portugal, Belgium and Poland together with local broadcaster ELEVEN SPORTS.
Along with the live screenings, fans of both Madrid and Barcelona are encouraged to get involved themselves and support their side on social media, with the global conversation revolving around the #ElClasico hashtag.
