Soweto cop shot dead in Protea South

We are sad to announce the passing of a law officer who was fatally shot in Soweto. Following the incident, South African Police Service released a statement detailing the particulars of the event.

The brigadier, who is yet to be named, was shot by unknown suspects moments after he arrived home between 6.30 pm – 7 pm. The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was certified dead.

Gauteng Provincial Commissioner, Lt Gen DS De Lange and members are shocked by this news and have already embarked on an investigation to establish the circumstances that led to the shooting.

“The SAPS in the province is reeling with shock after learning of the fatal attack on one senior manager of the SAPS in Gauteng.

“Police will leave no stone unturned to find the perpetrators of these incessant and heartless attacks on our members. In fact, we will not be deterred or discouraged from staying true to our commitment and calling, which is to serve and to protect the residents of Gauteng and the country”, Lt Gen DS De Lange lamented.

“On behalf of the leadership of police in Gauteng, I wish to extend our deepest condolences to the family and colleagues of our slain member,” said the Provincial Commissioner.
