You know your weekend is spoiled when you get arrested on a Friday morning. Your weekend hasn’t even started properly and you end up in a holding cell for assault.

Constable Fezeka Khobo said, “On Friday, March 2, at about 830 am the suspect assaulted the complainant with a broom. The complainant sustained bruises on the right arm.”

The suspect that was arrested is a 59-year-old male. The Eldorado Park SAPS have arrested a total of five suspects on different occasions.

Constable Fezeka Khobo, the new spokesperson for the Eldorado Park SAPS said that the first suspect that was arrested, was arrested on Sunday, March 4, for malicious damage to property where he allegedly broke the hinge of a door at a house. The suspect arrested is a 50-year-old male.

Another case of malicious damage to property has occurred where a 33-year-old female was arrested for smashing a car’s windscreen in Old Eldorado Park. The details of why this happened are unknown. Khobo said that the suspect was also arrested on Sunday, March 4.

It seems like March 4 was a good day for Eldos SAPS and their successes.

Khobo said, “On Sunday at about 1030 pm allegations say that common assault happened whereby the suspect assaulted the complainant with fists on the forehead and also used an unknown object.”

Khobo stated that SAPS made a more serious arrest.

She said, “The most serious one that the police officers of Eldorado Park SAPS arrested was an arrest of a suspect who committed rape.”

According to Khobo, the rape took place on February 16. The suspect that was arrested is a 29-year-old male.

She said, “This shows the dedication and effort of police officers in Eldorado Park, it shows that they’re putting in their work.”

Captain Phillemon Khorombi, “We appeal to the community of Eldorado Park to assist us in identifying an unknown deceased male. The deceased was wearing blue jeans, black belt, and a black long sleeve t-shirt and black ring on his middle finger.

“The deceased was found at Olifants Water West on January 7 at about 750 am. Anyone who might know who he, is or if you are missing a relative that was last seen wearing such an outfit, to come forward.”

Palisade fences are being stolen more often now lately. The back of Milnerton Primary School is missing a lot the school fence.

Most recently Dereleen James, founder of the Yellow Ribbon Foundation (YRF), which is situated right next to Lancea Vale Secondary School, was a victim of this crime.

Khorombi said, “Eldorado Park SAPS members arrested the 45-year-old suspect, for the possession of stolen goods. The goods belonged to the Non-Profit Organisation, which is the Yellow Ribbon Foundation.”

James stopped the police and asked for assistance from the police to help her trace her stolen goods as well as to arrest the suspect. Her efforts were not in vain as they recovered her goods and arrested the suspect.

Khormbi said, “We are appealing to the community of Eldorado Park to ensure that they should not buy stolen goods. The YRF is an NPO and it is here for the community of Eldorado Park, to assist members of the community who are victims of the social ills here in this community.

“This organisation belongs to the community; you cannot steal something that belongs to you. What is the purpose of stealing? You as the community always complain about not having facilities for certain things and now you do (YRF). Anyone who witnesses such crimes should report to the police immediately.”
