Sci-fi meets science facts

The expo will feature several interesting elements that include the 7 Adventure Worlds namely astronomy and Physics World, prehistoric world, cartoon world, celebrities world, technology and gaming world, robotics world and alien world.

“Our main objective is to provide edutainment and encourage students to pursue their interests in science beyond the boundaries of the classroom,” said the organisers.

Organisers said the exhibition would have variety activities of the latest technology in the varied gaming industries as well as some of the biggest personality brands of the world in wax and silicone figures such as Nelson Mandela.

While most exhibitions are purely for entertainment, the Alien and UFO Expo enhances the educational element of showbiz while still thrusting emphasis on the amusement of sci-fi lovers.

The expo will also tour Durban and Cape Town on dates still to be confirmed.

Organisers of the event said preparations were on course and encouraged schools and families to book in advance so as to enjoy various discounts like the early bird facility where tickets would be discounted.

“This is the era of technology and robotics so it is very important for kids from diverse backgrounds to participate so that they are not left out,” said the organisers.

The standard ticket has at least 10 free activities while there are an extra 10 paid activities whose prices range between R30 and R50.

Robot, UFO and train rides and face painting complete all come for R30 to complete the list of activities.

Early bird tickets for the event are already available on Computicket at Checkers, Shoprite and Computicket online for R50 per child for less privileged schools and R75 for other schools. This 75% discount promotion is only valid on weekdays and runs until November 30.

Standard early bird tickets for kids cost R90, R100 for adults and $90 for pensioners.

After the close of the early bad phase tickets will cost R180 for both kids and pensioners and R200 for adults.

Other packages include the family special which costs R600 for two adults and two kids.

The VIP ticket comes with one of each activities for free except for the rides.
