Former Dorljota Public relations officer Zed Simelane allegedly shot dead

Zed Simelane.

Public Relations Officer of Dorljota, Zed Simelane, has died. Unconfirmed reports on social media (Facebook) suggest that he was shot.

Messages of condolences to the deceased and to his family have been pouring in on Facebook – largely from people who previously worked with him.

Simelane lived in Dobsonville. He has been in the taxi business for some time. He served under the association as a PRO for more than 36 months following his re-election years back.

  • He is known for helping families in dire need of transportation by sending out taxis during funerals for free
  • Being at the forefront when the taxi association started an initiative to provide bursaries to top performing learners in matric
  • Always attending public meetings that needed his input whenever  questions of safety arose
  •  He was part of the team which made a massive difference in handing out food parcels to poor families from Dobsonville, Snake Park, Braamfischerville and Tshepisong.
